Background

Carolyn has worked with young people and their families for over 35 years in outpatient, day and inpatient settings in both pubic and private settings, including the Austin Hospital, Travancore and the Albert Road Clinic. In private practice Carolyn also enjoys working with young and older adults individually, as a couple or in their role as parents of adolescents.

In 1991 Carolyn joined Ramsay Health Care and helped set up the first private Adolescent Psychiatric Unit in Victoria, now well established at the Albert Road Clinic. Carolyn was Clinical Manager of the Adolescent Centre for Health (ARCH) a day program for adolescents presenting with mental health issues with the aim of providing the least disruption to their lives.

After 10 years Carolyn, together with colleagues specialising in Child and Adolescent mental health set up Phoenics Health a multi-disciplinary mental health practice. The collective aim was to provide an accessible, collaborative and caring approach to meeting the needs of individuals and families presenting with mental health challenges. After 14 years Phoenics Health is now closed and Carolyn has joined the group at South Melbourne Consulting Suites.

Along with her direct clinical work, Carolyn also lectured in postgraduate training programs at Swinburne and Melbourne Universities and held an Honorary Fellowship at Melbourne University.

As a trained Adolescent Psychotherapist, Relationship and Family therapist Carolyn works with both the individual and when necessary, whoever is relevant in their lives ,drawing on developmental, systemic, interpersonal and cognitive therapy approaches. She also works with adults experiencing psychological distress.

She enjoys seeing adolescents and has a special interest in anxiety and mood disorders, eating disorders, family and couple relationships.
